My acquisition of this piece has a bit of a story behind it.
I was making a smoky quartz pendulum for a friend using a wire-wrapping method that I am not very good at, plus my hands are shaky as hell. So I wound up dropping the original stone, and it got busted up like, real good. You couldn’t even see the phantom in it anymore it was so bad.
So I called up one of my local rock shops and asked the man if he had any double terminated smoky quartz–meaning, of course, to have asked about phantom. He thought he did, and since I’m local (he normally operates online), he invited me over to look at his stock.
This piece was my favorite piece. I was mildly concerned about the lack of phantom, which I wanted for my friend, and about the slight stabbiness of the aegirine.
In short, the stabbiness made the piece impossible to wire-wrap without hurting myself. I learned I had asked for the wrong thing. And I wound up finishing wrapping and sending off the original piece, nearly shattered, to my friend–who assured me she loved it anyway.
Smoky quartz can help with focus and balancing negative energies. Aegirine also helps with focus.
This specimen is about 2.5 inches in length.
